The Quest

And so it begins...

Here at The Happy Pie Hole, we really love pie.  Blueberry Pie, Cherry Pie, Lemon Meringue, Pecan, Apple-Pear Pie, Chicken Pot Pie . . . the list could go on forever.

Pie is like that warm little piece of home you can find just about anywhere good pie is made.  But why blog about it?

Well, a few years ago, Michael and Hannah Clark started throwing around the idea for a cookbook of sorts.  Michael thought about doing a "Manly Man's" cookbook.  Hannah thought about doing a "Sugar-free" cookbook, and since their son, who will henceforth be referred to as The Young Sir happens to have a few severe food allergies, they even considered writing a "Food Substitute" cookbook.

Alas, none of those ideas ever really came to fruition.  Earlier this year, however, while visiting a quaint little tourist town, Michael and Hannah half-jokingly discussed the idea of one day opening a pie/tea/book parlor in said tourist town.  They laughed about it, continuing to joke that that would be their retirement plan if more lucrative ideas didn't pan out. But the idea of pie and tea and books never quite let go of them.

Hence, The Happy Pie Hole was born.

Michael and Hannah decided to begin their pie journey from the comfort of their current home.  Since Michael works full-time to support the family, and Hannah is a full-time mom, part-time writer, they thought it was a good idea to start small with a blog and weekly posts about their journey to discover, create, and compile the happiest pie recipes known to anyone in possession of a pie hole. :-)

But first, introductions must be in order.

This handsome bearded fellow here is Michael.  He's The Happy Pie Hole's fearless leader and the love of Hannah's life.  The two met at their brother and sister's wedding in 1997 (brothers
married sisters), however, they didn't fall in love until seven years later.

After pursuing Hannah for the eternity of two weeks, the two discovered they were on the same page as far as love and marriage were concerned, and they were married five months later.  Ten years have passed since then, and Hannah is even more certain than ever that she made the best decision of her life when she said "yes" to the handsomely bearded ginger.

Michael is a food lover, an avid golfer, a very funny man, an endless well of information, and, in Hannah's opinion, gives red-heads everywhere something quite magnificent to aspire to.  ;-) After all, his co-workers do refer to him as Aragorn.

Hannah has had a thing for pie ever since she was a little girl.  Early on, she made it her goal to be the best pie crust maker this side of the US of A.  Whether or not that's come to pass is completely subjective, but Michael has been known to declare her pie the best he's ever eaten. Disclaimer: Michael also claims Hannah is the most beautiful woman alive.  Whether or not that affects his judgement of her pie crust is yet to be determined.

Hannah is a pie snob, (hey, everybody has their thing), a writer, an amateur guitar player, and she has even been known to make Michael laugh once in a while with her own modest sense of humor.  ;-)

Since the Young Sir will most likely be referred to often on this blog,  Hannah and Michael would love for you to meet him, too!  The Young Sir is Michael and Hannah's happiest and most loyal sidekick.  He LOVES pie, as long as it doesn't have anything he's allergic to in it.  He's one heck of a Lego builder, is obsessed with--and quite good at--football, and can periodically be found sneaking the best food from the pantry in the middle of the night. Consequently, Michael and Hannah are pretty sure he's a bit of a food aficionado himself.

One of the couple's dreams is to figure out a way to work together AND make money--at the same time.  Will The Happy Pie Hole end up fulfilling that dream? Your guess is as good as theirs.  Either way, one thing's for certain: Michael and Hannah intend to have a heck of a time finding out!

Hope you stick around to cheer them on!
